Game of the Year Platinum Challenge
Plat every Game of the Year winner from 2009 to 2025, and find out how far along you already are.
No sign-in and no PlayStation account linking. The PSN ID only needs to have trophies set to public.
The GOTY challenge is simple to state and hard to finish: earn the platinum trophy in every game that has won Game of the Year. It is a ready-made backlog that has nothing to do with what is easy, and everything to do with what the industry decided was the best game of its year.
It is also a genuinely varied list. Finishing it means a 100-hour open world in Elden Ring, a co-op campaign in It Takes Two that cannot be done alone, a Telltale adventure, a competitive shooter, and a run through Sekiro. Very few hunters get to the end of it by accident.
This tracker matches the winners against a profile’s platinum list, including alternate titles and remasters, so The Last of Us Part I counts for the 2013 winner and a Game of the Year edition counts the same as the base game. What comes back is a progress bar, a per-year breakdown, and a list of exactly which winners are still missing.
The challenge follows the industry's main Game of the Year award. Spike ran it as the Video Game Awards until 2013, when it became the VGX, and Geoff Keighley's The Game Awards has handed out the prize every year since 2014. That gives one canonical winner per year, and 16 of the 17 winners can be platted on PlayStation.

The one gap in the run is 2017. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild never released on PlayStation, so there is no trophy list to earn and the year is skipped rather than counted against you. Every other winner on the list shipped on a PlayStation console with a platinum trophy attached, which is what makes a clean sweep possible.

Frequently asked questions
Which award does the challenge use?
The main industry Game of the Year prize: the Spike Video Game Awards for the earlier years, the VGX in 2013, and The Game Awards from 2014 onwards. That keeps it to exactly one winner per year.
What happens with winners that are not on PlayStation?
They are marked as ineligible and removed from the total. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild won in 2017 and never came to PlayStation, so the challenge is 16 games rather than 17.
Do remasters and definitive editions count?
Yes. Titles are matched with a list of known alternate names and by ignoring edition wording, so a remaster, a complete edition or a Game of the Year edition all count for the year their original won.
Which GOTY winner is the hardest platinum?
It depends on what you find hard, but the two that stop most hunters are It Takes Two, which is co-op only and needs a second player for the entire campaign, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, which requires multiple playthroughs to reach every ending.
